PUTRAJAYA, 16 March 2026: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) organised a meeting with Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ) from the Engineering Department to propose and discuss the mandatory installation of dashcams for private and commercial vehicles in Malaysia.
The meeting started with a presentation by Encik Muhammad Amirun Mohd Shamshuri, VTAREC Executive, addressing critical safety issues caused by unmonitored driving behaviours such as speeding, mobile phone usage, and various traffic violations that currently lack accountability. To mitigate these risks, VTAREC proposed a strategic rollout of dashcams for both commercial and private vehicles.
The session concluded with representatives from JPJ providing feedback for VTAREC’s review. In attendance were YBrs Tuan Ir Mohd Fairuz Izani, Timbalan Pengarah Bahagian Kejuruteraan Awam, JPJ; YBrs Tuan Meor Sujairi Meor Hassan, Engineer; and YBrs Tuan Norhaizad Ab. Rahman, Engineer, along with VTAREC Executives, Encik Muhammad Amirun Mohd Shamshuri, Encik Muhamad Faiz Mohd Faizal and Puan Aisha Fahmy.
