PUTRAJAYA, 16 March 2026:  A delegation from the Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) recently paid a courtesy call on YBrs Mr Chua Choon Hwa, Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha (Pelancongan) at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) to deliberate on potential areas of collaboration, particularly in strengthening road safety awareness among tourism operators managing tourism vehicles.

The delegation was led by YBhg Datuk Lokman Jamaan, VTAREC Chairman, who conveyed his appreciation for MOTAC’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance safety standards within the tourism industry. During the meeting, both parties engaged in a constructive exchange of views on possible strategic initiatives and collaborative programmes aimed at promoting responsible driving practices and reinforcing road safety compliance among tour operators and their drivers.

Also in attendance from VTAREC were YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTAREC Co-ordinator and YBrs Puan Adilah Mohd Akhir, VTAREC Executive while the MOTAC delegation included YBhg Dr Johnny Anak Andrew, Setiausaha Bahagian Pelesenan dan Penguatkuasaan Pelancongan (BPPP), YBrs Puan Yong Yit Hiong, Penolong Setiausaha Kanan Unit Aduan, Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan and YBrs Encik Mohd Shukri Talib, Penolong Pegawai Tadbir Unit Aduan, Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan.

The discussion underscored the importance of close cooperation between industry stakeholders and the government in safeguarding the welfare of tourists while upholding the professionalism of the tourism transport sector.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, reflecting mutual interest in pursuing meaningful collaboration. As a gesture of appreciation, YBhg Datuk Lokman Jamaan, VTAREC Chairman presented a plaque of appreciation to YBrs Mr Chua Choon Hwa, Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha (Pelancongan) of MOTAC.
