Meeting Session with Kor SUKSIS at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor

JOHOR BAHRU, 20 April 2026: The General Manager of the Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC), YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, held a meeting with YDH ASP Puan Sandrawati Haji Abdul Latip, Coordinating Officer and instructors of Kor Sukarelawan Polis Siswa Siswi (SUKSIS) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor. The visit and meeting aimed to introduce VTAREC to the Kor SUKSIS at UTM Johor. It covered an overview of VTAREC including its purpose, the reasons for its establishment and its past and current Chairmen. The session highlighted VTAREC’s close collaboration with Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), including Kor SUKSIS. In addition, the meeting shared VTAREC’s previous engagements and activities conducted with Kor SUKSIS units from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Malaya (UM).

KPL Tuan Nonazarudin Zakaria, Assistant Trainer of Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the meeting, ensuring the smooth conduct of the session.

Encik Muhammad Amirun Mohd Shamshuri, Executive of VTAREC, upon being given the floor during the session, briefly introduced himself and VTAREC before extending a formal invitation to YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC, to proceed with the presentation. The presentation was delivered to members of SUKSIS at UTM Johor, as part of the engagement and collaborative discussion between both parties.

The meeting was conducted as part of the VTAREC–Kor SUKSIS–UTM Student Engagement initiative, with the objective of strengthening collaboration in addressing two major national concerns, namely the reduction of road traffic accidents and the prevention of vehicle theft crimes in Malaysia.

During the session, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid delivered a detailed and informative presentation to the participants. She began by introducing herself and providing an overview of VTAREC, including its establishment, roles and responsibilities, as well as the structure and composition of council members.

The presentation further elaborated on key statistical data obtained from Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), which included current trends in vehicle theft cases across Malaysia, as well as the identification of the top 10 most stolen vehicles. In addition, she also highlighted important statistics related to road safety, particularly the number of fatalities involving motorcycle riders, which remains one of the highest contributing factors to road accident deaths in the country.

 YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid also shared VTAREC’s ongoing initiatives and strategic efforts that have been implemented to address these issues, including awareness programmes, preventive measures and collaborative approaches with relevant stakeholders. YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid further emphasised VTAREC’s commitment to continuous improvement through data-driven strategies and inter-agency cooperation.

Furthermore, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid discussed future collaboration plans under the Student Engagement programme with Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor, which aim to cultivate awareness among university students, especially future enforcement personnel, on the importance of road safety and crime prevention. The engagement also serves as a platform to strengthen knowledge sharing and foster stronger cooperation between VTAREC and Kor SUKSIS in supporting national efforts to reduce vehicle-related crimes and road accident rates.

YDH ASP Puan Sandrawati Haji Abdul Latip, Coordinating Officer of Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor, stated that she agrees with the proposed Student Engagement programme suggested by VTAREC. However, she highlighted that the Kor SUKSIS team is currently occupied with preparations for an upcoming marching competition.

YDH ASP Puan Sandrawati Haji Abdul Latip, Coordinating Officer of Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor, expressed her appreciation to YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC, and the team for making the trip from Kuala Lumpur. She also mentioned that she now has a clearer understanding of VTAREC.

She also expressed that Kor SUKSIS is committed to giving their best, in appreciation of the support and sponsorship provided by VTAREC. Additionally, she requested that VTAREC await further confirmation, as the final decision will be subject to approval from the Commandant of Kor SUKSIS.

The discussion session between VTAREC and Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor was further supported by the presence of Assistant Trainers, whose involvement played an important role in facilitating the discussion and providing valuable input throughout the session.

YDH ASP Puan Sandrawati Haji Abdul Latip, Coordinating Officer of Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor, informed that she will first discuss with the Commandant of Kor SUKSIS before proceeding with plans to organise a joint VTAREC–Kor SUKSIS UTM Student Engagement programme in the future.

 In attendance were KPL Tuan Khairul Faizal Kassim, KPL Tuan Ahmad Fikri Abdul Gani and KPL Tuan Nonazarudin Zakaria, Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor Assistant Trainers; YDH ASP Puan Sandrawati Haji Abdul Latip, Coordinating Officer of Kor SUKSIS UTM Johor; YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC; Encik Muhammad Amirun Mohd Shamshuri and Encik Muhamad Faiz Mohd Faizal, Executives of VTAREC.

Overall, the session reflected VTAREC’s continuous dedication to promoting public safety, enhancing awareness and strengthening collaborative efforts with educational institutions and enforcement bodies in Malaysia.
