SETIAWANGSA, 14 February 2026: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC), together with Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) and Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ), organised a mini campaign to spread awareness on vehicle theft and road safety to the public. This collaboration highlights the commitment of all parties involved in supporting public education and awareness programmes. The event was held at AEON Mall AU2 Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
The mini campaign aimed to encourage the public to be more alert and responsible in protecting their vehicles and practising safe driving habits. Through the collaboration with PDRM and JPJ, the programme focused on raising awareness about preventing vehicle theft and road accidents, especially with the festive season approaching.
Many fun and educational activities were held during the event, including sharing meaningful messages on an engagement wall, a wheel of fortune, a steering wheel game, quizzes and a colouring contest. These activities managed to attract many shoppers and families, creating a lively and positive atmosphere at the VTAREC booth.

Informational flyers from VTAREC, PDRM and JPJ which contained simple and practical tips on how to prevent vehicle theft and road accidents were also given out to help increase public awareness. Through this initiative, the public were given the opportunity to engage directly with the enforcement officers to seek clarifications and receive further information.

The registration for the colouring contest started at noon to allow more children to join. The session began with a fun and interactive briefing by one of VTAREC’s Executives, Encik Muhammad Amirun Mohd Shamshuri, who shared useful information about current vehicle theft and road accident trends, as well as simple steps to prevent theft and practise safe road use. A few simple quizzes were conducted and small gifts were given to participants to encourage their involvement.

The two-hour colouring contest gave the participating children a chance to show their understanding of road safety through their creativity. This activity helped them learn important safety messages in a fun and creative way, while also encouraging parents to take part in discussions about road safety.
The judging panel for the colouring contest included VTAREC’s Co-ordinator, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid; Penolong Pegawai Tadbir of JPJ, Puan Marina Awang Aziz; Director of The MediaMate Lab, Puan Izzah Mohammad; and VTAREC’s Executives, Encik Muhammad Amirun Mohd Shamshuri and Puan Nor Idzatul Iqma Mohd Salleh. The winners were chosen based on logo accuracy, use of colour, neatness and creativity. Cash prizes and goodie bags were presented to the winners, bringing smiles to the children and their families.

The mini campaign ended successfully at 5.00 p.m., marking another positive step in raising public awareness and strengthening the co-operation between VTAREC, PDRM, JPJ and the community in promoting vehicle security and road safety.
