BATU PAHAT, 30 October 2024: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) organised a “Program Kesedaran Awam berkenaan Kecurian Kenderaan dan Keselamatan Jalan Raya” through VTAREC Student Engagement in collaboration with Kor Sukarelawan Polis Siswa/Siswi Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (Kor SUKSIS UTHM). The event was held at Dewan Sultan Ibrahim, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Batu Pahat, Johor.

The Student Engagement event aimed to raise awareness of vehicle theft and road traffic accidents and transfer the knowledge to the community in Batu Pahat, Johor, to be more alert in protecting their vehicles and following road traffic rules. More than 200 students from various ‘Pasukan Pakaian Beruniform’ such as Kor SUKSIS, Pasukan Latihan Pegawai Simpanan (PALAPES), Kor Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam (Kor SISPA), Bulan Sabit Merah, Kor Siswa Siswi Koreksional (Kor SISKOR), Kor Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam (KOR SISPA), Briged RELA Siswa Siswi (RELASIS) and Cadet Bomba from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia participated in the event.

To benefit the participants, a variety of educational games were made available, such as Wheel of Fortune, which allowed the participants to win prizes while learning about vehicle and road safety knowledge. Another activity was the Steering Lock Game, where participants had to apply a steering lock in under three seconds, which was very educational and fun, with hands-on experience. These activities aimed to both entertain and provide valuable knowledge on vehicle theft prevention and road safety awareness, making the event both informative and engaging. Additionally, a Wall of Engagement was created for participants to express their commitment to combating vehicle theft and following road traffic rules, not just on campus but in other areas as well. The participants had a great time during various activities, including quiz sessions, acting performances, zapin and rampaian performances.
