PUTRAJAYA, 22 May 2026: A delegation from the Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC), led by Chairman, YBhg Datuk Lokman Jamaan and General Manager, YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, held a discussion session with the Timbalan Ketua Pengarah (Perancangan & Operasi), Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ), YBhg Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi and Pengarah Bahagian Kejuruteraan Automotif JPJ, YBrs Tuan Ir. Mohd Yusop Mohamad at the JPJ headquarters in Putrajaya.
The meeting followed the recent appointment of both JPJ senior officials, YBhg Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi and YBrs Tuan Ir. Mohd Yusop Mohamad to the VTAREC Board of Directors and aimed to further strengthen professional relations between both organisations. VTAREC presented an overview of its establishment, key roles and achievements, including a reported reduction in vehicle theft over the past decade.
Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration to reduce road accidents in Malaysia, with particular concern over the high rate of motorcycle-related crashes. Both sides exchanged views on road safety challenges and agreed on the importance of closer co-ordination.
VTAREC also outlined planned initiatives for the year, including awareness campaigns and public education programmes. JPJ expressed support for continued collaboration and both parties concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to improving road safety outcomes in Malaysia. Also in attendance were Mr Tony Nazim Tafik and VTAREC Executive, Puan Nor Idzatul Iqma Mohd Salleh.
