PUTRAJAYA<\/strong>, 21 July 2026: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) is pleased to present the \u201cAnugerah Khas VTAREC\u201d to two individuals who demonstrated exceptional quick thinking, courage, competence and composure in responding to an emergency situation. The recipients are lorry driver Encik Wong Tuck Meng of Ipoh Kueh Teow & Noodles Sdn Bhd and bus driver Encik Ahmad Yasin Ab Malek of Permata Utara Sdn Bhd.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>Road safety is a shared responsibility that can only be strengthened through vigilance, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility among all road users. Each recipient received a specially designed plaque, a cash token of RM1,000.00 and a Certificate of Appreciation. The awards were presented by YBhg Dato\u2019 Ooi Win Juat, Director of VTAREC, accompanied by YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC. The presentation took place during the VTAREC Dialogue Session on behavioural change initiatives for motorcycle owners and riders, held at the Ministry of Transport (MOT), Putrajaya.<\/p>\n

The award recognises the recipients’ swift actions and sound judgement in helping to save 21 bus passengers near the Menora Tunnel, Ipoh, Perak, on 15 June 2026, as well as protecting other road users during the emergency, despite the significant risks to their own safety.<\/p>\n

YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC, said, \u201cThe VTAREC Board of Directors believes that the recipients’ quick thinking, courage, competence and strong sense of responsibility should serve as an example to all road users.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cTheir actions not only prevented a potentially more serious tragedy but also demonstrated that prompt decisions and decisive actions can save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

VTAREC hopes that this recognition will encourage both recipients to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism while inspiring all drivers and road users to act responsibly and decisively in safeguarding lives on the road.<\/p>\n
