IPOH,<\/strong> 24 August 2024: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) continued its efforts to raise public awareness on vehicle theft prevention through a mini-campaign aimed at educating the public on ways to protect their vehicles from theft.<\/p>\n

The mini-campaign was held at AEON Mall Klebang, Ipoh, Perak and was attended by members of the public as well as police officers from the Unit Rondaan Bermotosikal (URB), Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV), Unit Polis Pelancong and AMANITA under the Bahagian Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (BPJKK). During the public awareness campaign, visitors participated in activities such as writing messages on the \u201cWall of Engagement\u201d, a colouring contest, VTAREC educational games and the \u201cWheel of Fortune\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Co-ordinator of VTAREC, \u201cThe PDRM\u2013VTAREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness Campaign aims to ensure that more people understand the nature of vehicle theft crimes and learn how to better protect their vehicles.\u201d She added that the campaign also serves to educate the public on preventive measures such as using chain locks, steering wheel locks, anti-theft devices, signal-blocking pouches for key fobs and parking in well-lit areas.<\/p>\n

The campaign received positive responses from both the public and police officers, particularly through the \u201cWall of Engagement\u201d, which featured aspirations, reminders and pledges against vehicle theft. Various interactive activities were organised to encourage public participation and support for the campaign.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights was the \u201cWheel of Fortune\u201d, which enabled participants to win prizes while learning about vehicle security. Another popular activity was the \u201cSteering Lock Educational Game\u201d, where participants were challenged to correctly install a steering lock within three seconds, combining education with a fun and hands-on experience. These activities were designed not only to entertain but also to impart valuable knowledge on vehicle theft prevention, making the campaign both informative and engaging.<\/p>\n

A colouring contest was also organised for younger participants. The competition attracted 37 contestants aged between 6 and 12 years old. Held from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm at the same venue, the contest showcased the children\u2019s creativity and artistic talent through their colouring of prepared drawings.<\/p>\n

As the mini-campaign concluded, a prize-giving ceremony was conducted by YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTAREC Co-ordinator, accompanied by YDH Inspektor Puan Nor Afida Pali from Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Ipoh and VTAREC executive officers.<\/p>\n

Adik Chloe Lim Ke Qing from SJK (C) Poi Lam emerged as the champion of the colouring contest and received cash prize worth RM130.00, a VTAREC T-shirt, a goodies bag and a certificate. The first runner-up prize was awarded to Adik Afiqah Rasyidah Mohd Rashidi, who received RM100.00 in cash, a VTAREC T-shirt, a goodies bag and a certificate. Meanwhile, Adik Joey Lau won second runner-up and received RM70.00 in cash, a VTAREC T-shirt, a goodies bag and a certificate.<\/p>\n

Consolation prizes consisting of RM30.00 cash, certificates and VTAREC merchandise were awarded to 10 participants. The recipients were:<\/p>\n
