SEREMBAN<\/strong>, 27 July 2024: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC), in collaboration with Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) through the Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Seremban, continued its series of Public Awareness Campaign on Vehicle Theft in the southern region of Malaysia. The programme was held at AEON Mall Seremban 2 Shopping Centre, Negeri Sembilan. This mini campaign was carefully designed to raise public awareness on vehicle theft while instilling preventive awareness among younger audiences, particularly primary school students.<\/p>\n

Visitors wrote pledges and messages to raise awareness about vehicle theft.<\/em><\/p>\n

YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTAREC Co-ordinator, emphasised that awareness and preventive measures must be prioritised by all parties, noting that vehicles can be stolen in under two minutes even though they are equipped with advanced technologies such as push-start systems. She highlighted that individuals must take proactive steps to safeguard their vehicles and remain mindful of high-risk parking areas.<\/p>\n

She further stated that simple preventive measures, such as using anti-RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) key covers, which are readily available online through e-commerce platforms, are one of the preventive precautions that can be applied to newer vehicle models that use push-start button technology.<\/p>\n

Carrying the theme \u201cUnited Against Vehicle Theft,\u201d the campaign aimed to cultivate greater vigilance among the public, particularly youths. VTAREC successfully engaged visitors through interactive educational activities, contests, and hands-on simulations. Participants were given opportunities to demonstrate vehicle safety practices through educational games and practical exercises, helping them build essential life skills in vehicle security.<\/p>\n

The active presence of PDRM officers throughout the programme reinforced the close relationship between the police and the community, in line with the slogan \u201cPolis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada.\u201d Their involvement not only strengthened public confidence but also served as a visible deterrent to potential offenders.<\/p>\n

YDH KPL Mohan Rajan, alongside Sjn Nor Raihan from IPD Seremban, explained to visitors the importance of using a steering lock to prevent vehicle theft.<\/em><\/p>\n

Among the highlights of the campaign was the \u201cWall of Engagement,\u201d where participants left messages promoting awareness and shared responsibility in preventing vehicle theft. Other attractions included the Wheel of Fortune, Steering Lock Challenge, anti-theft equipment exhibition, and a colouring contest.<\/p>\n

Visitors were drawn to participate in the \u2018Wheel of Fortune\u2019 for a chance to win attractive prizes.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nMembers of the public tried out the \u2018Steering Lock\u2019 educational game to learn about vehicle theft prevention.<\/em><\/p>\n

Participants of the \u2018Colouring Contest\u2019 showcased their creativity and best efforts during the mini-campaign at AEON Mall Seremban 2, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nYBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTAREC Co-ordinator, together with Encik Farid Akmal Johan and Encik Aniq Denial Mohd Fauzi (VTAREC Executive Officers), as well as AMANITA officers from IPD Seremban, were photographed with participants of the \u2018Colouring Contest\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

The campaign concluded with a prize presentation ceremony led by YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid. Adik Norharyani Ahmad Rasid from SK Senawang 3 emerged as the winner of the colouring contest, receiving a VTAREC \u201cUnited Against Vehicle Theft\u201d T-shirt, a certificate, a goodies bag, and a cash prize of RM130.00.<\/p>\n

The first runner-up, Adik Elise Kong from SJK (C) Han Ming, received a similar prize package along with RM100.00 in cash. Meanwhile, the second runner-up, Adik Muhammad Akif Syarafuddin from SK Leftenan Adnan, was awarded RM70.00 along with a T-shirt, certificate, and goodies bag.<\/p>\n

The campaign concluded on a high note, reflecting VTAREC\u2019s continued commitment to fostering public awareness, strengthening community engagement, and promoting proactive measures to combat vehicle theft.<\/p>\n
