KLANG SELATAN<\/strong>, 1 June 2024: The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) continue its efforts incollaboration with Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK), Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Klang Selatan to spread the awareness of vehicle theft among the public at Klang Selatan, Selangor.\u00a0 This time VTREC\u2019s mini-campaign has taken place in Klang Selatan District.\u00a0 This mini-campaign was strategically designed to not only raise awareness to prevent vehicle theft but also nurture precautious actions among children in primary school.<\/p>\n

The mini-campaign took place at the AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang, Selangor. VTREC received full attention from the crowds who wanted to try the VTREC educational games, prizes and contests available to be won. The participants not only be able to display their technique in locking their vehicle during the VTREC educational game but also offered them the simulation-based training which allows the public with hands-on learning experience to maximise retention.\u00a0 They could enjoy life experience to lock a car that to ensure their car is protected and avoid being a theft target is as simple as \u201cA B C\u201d.<\/p>\n

With the theme \u201cUnited Against Vehicle Theft\u201d, this mini-campaign serves as a crucial platform to advocate for shifts in the behaviour of vehicle owners to keep their vehicles properly and securely.\u00a0 According to YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTREC Co-ordinator \u201cCorrespondingly with the theme, it is not the responsibility of one party to prevent vehicle theft.\u00a0 To prevent vehicle theft, we cannot simply depend and put all the blame on authorities.\u00a0 Thus, this campaign is to encourage the community to have behaviour change and to take proper action to ensure the safety of their vehicles and others while preventing vehicle theft in their community.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also mentioned that \u201cThe PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft the Public Awareness Mini Campaign is to expose to the public how to protect their vehicle from being the victims of vehicle theft.\u00a0 Vehicles are considered as our assets that have always been used especially when going to work or school and to do whatever we wish to do with it. Taking note and implementing the importance of keeping our vehicles safe can bring significant outcomes in ensuring our vehicles safe from criminal targets\u201d.<\/p>\n

Numerous activities were orchestrated to motivate the public to engage, support and pledge their participation in this mini-campaign.\u00a0 The public can leave the message to another as a reminder to not be a victim of vehicle theft on the \u2018Wall of Engagement\u2019. Other activities arranged by VTREC to attract the public to engage in this mini-campaign are \u2018Wheel of Fortune\u2019 and \u2018Steering Lock Educational Games\u2019 that challenged the public to properly apply a steering lock under three seconds.<\/p>\n

A colouring contest was also being arranged for the younger public.\u00a0 This colouring contest has received applications from up to 37 children between the ages of 7 years old and 12 years old.\u00a0 The colouring contest was held at the same venue from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.\u00a0 Fierce competition was given by each participant with various creativities and skills expressed in the provided drawing paper.\u00a0 In addition to showing support for their children, they also had the chance to receive a range of complimentary souvenirs to take home.<\/p>\n

The culmination of this mini-campaign was marked by a prize-giving ceremony presided over by YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTREC Co-ordinator, accompanied by the VTREC Executive Officer.\u00a0 Adik Siew Jun Ler, 12 years old from SJKC Putra Nilai won the main prize of RM130.00, a VTREC t-shirt, goodies bag, and certificate.\u00a0 The first runner-up is won by Adik Nur Zara Arianna, 8 years old from SK Taman Medan. As first runner-up, adik Nur Zara Arianna took a prize of RM100.00, a VTREC -shirt, a goodies bag, and a certificate.\u00a0 Adik Zahry Ilham embraced the second runner-up position and received prizes of RM70.00, a VTREC t-shirt, a goodies bag, and a certificate.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The main objective of this mini-campaign achieved which is to spread much awareness and information regarding vehicle theft in Malaysia and how to prevent it from being the victims. At the end of the campaign, VTREC hoped that Klang Selatan would always take the message that delivers not for granted and always implement the best practices for preventing vehicle theft.<\/p>\n
