ALOR SETAR,<\/strong> 27 January 2022: Vehicle Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) fulfil its commitments by transferring latest knowledge of vehicle theft by ensuring enforcement agencies in Kedah are in line with the latest modus operandi, technology and knowledge in relation to crime of vehicle theft with the view to enable the officers to be abreast on vehicle theft factors in their daily work as the enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

The Co-ordinator of VTREC, Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, during her Opening Remarks highlighted that the criminals including the syndicates are exploiting new and emerging technologies to carry out their illicit activities which include vehicle theft.\u00a0 Lawless behavior in vehicle theft has created a domain for propagation of crime in the country.\u00a0 The rule of enforcement and law able to curb the crime from spreading with technology to facilitate and to address the vehicle theft trend, including proliferation keyless vehicle being stolen.\u00a0 Among others, she also mentioned that beside enforcement measures in place, the awareness on crime of vehicle theft among the communities will be able to prevent vehicle theft at the earlier stage, thus focusing on prevention factors and to encourage awareness programmes will be able to change the behavior of the motorists in protecting their vehicle and landscape of vehicle theft in Malaysia.\u00a0 She also thanked all those who made the Kedah dedicated enforcement agencies seminar a reality.<\/p>\n

Organised in collaboration with Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) of Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), the seminar highlights multiple focus topics including latest statistics, modus operandi, advantages, weakness, syndicates, technology, inspection and so forth.\u00a0 The seminar was held at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre, Alor Setar, Kedah with strict Covid-19 pandemic measures and SOP, it was in conjunction with PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Mini Awareness Campaign in Kedah.<\/p>\n

The seminar was kicked off by the first presentation by YBrs Puan Afif Aliyana Abu Fitri of VTREC sharing and explaining about VTREC and the statistics of vehicle theft in Malaysia.\u00a0 It was then succeeded by YDH Tuan ASP Azmirul Abdul Aziz, PT-D4, Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah, Polis Diraja Malaysia, Negeri Kedah presenting the situation of vehicle theft in Kedah and common modus operandi by vehicle thieves and syndicates.<\/p>\n

Next was YBrs Tuan Hillmy Yahaya, Penolong Ketua Seksyen Bahagian Operasi, Bahagian Penguatkuasaan, Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Negeri Kedah delivered his discussion on stolen vehicle for cloned.\u00a0 After that, YBrs Tuan Karthy Gasedev A\/L Deva Rajoo, Penolong Pengarah KASTAM of Jabatan Kastam DiRaja Malaysia, Negeri Kedah discussed on situation including inspection at the border for those travelling to and from the neighbouring country, Thailand through Bukit Kayu Hitam.\u00a0 The seminar ended with YBrs Tuan Sekar A\/L Raman, Timbalan Ketua Pegawai Penguatkuasa Negeri of Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna Malaysia (KPDNHEP) Negeri Kedah discussion on fake spareparts and goods.\u00a0 The participants took the opportunity to ask various questions to enlighten their knowledge in respect of the discussion.<\/p>\n
