KUALA LUMPUR<\/strong>, 5 April 2020:\u00a0 In 2020, 7,400 vehicles were stolen in Malaysia dropped by 37% as compared to 11,675 units in 2019.\u00a0 The record can further be reduced when all parties plays their role including vehicle owners.\u00a0 Vehicle owner need to be more vigilant in protecting their vehicle.<\/p>\n

Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) Co-ordinator said during Movement Control Order (MCO) due to COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the crime of vehicle theft has further reduced.\u00a0 \u201cAbout 32 vehicles were stolen in 2019 but in 2020 the record dropped to 20 vehicles being stolen, it reduced by 37% according to insurance industry statistics.\u201d, she said at the soft launch of PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness Campaign 2021 at TPC Kuala Lumpur.\u00a0 Deputy Director of CID (Intelligence\/Operation) Bukit Aman, YDH Datuk Dev Kumar officiated the Soft Launch, today.<\/p>\n

Mas Tina said in 2020 Top 3 most stolen car was the Proton Wira \u2013 353 units, followed by Proton Iswara \u2013 273 units and foreign made car, Toyota Hilux \u2013 209 units respectively.\u00a0 According to VTREC statistics, Selangor contributed the highest vehicle theft record in 2020 with 2,332 units, follow by Kuala Lumpur (1,572 units), Johor (1,006 units), Kedah (495 units) and Sarawak (454 units).<\/p>\n
